Photos from ACS On Campus at CSIR-NCL
Here are some photos from the ACS On Campus event at the CSIR – National Chemical Laboratory in Pune last Wednesday. We have over 600 registrants for the event making it the most attended of any to date! Thanks to the hosts and in particular to Dr. Sourav Pal, Director of CSIR-NCL, Dr. Rahul Banerjee, Dr. Guruswamy Kumaraswamy, and M. S. Katte for making this a great success.
ACS at the Indian Institute of Technology – Kanpur
We are grateful to Prof. Parimal Bharadwaj, Head of the Department of Chemistry for organizing a great event at the Indian Institute of Technology, Kanpur. Staying at the guesthouse was also a new experience for the editors… There were peacocks on the lane of the guesthouse, and indeed throughout the gorgeous, expansive campus.
ACS at the Taj Mahal!
The team from ACS Publications didn’t only visit some of the top chemistry departments in India: we got an opportunity to have some fun too. On Saturday, October 6, we left Delhi early in the morning for Agra. In Agra, we spent part of the next two days exploring the Taj Mahal and the Agra Fort- two major historic attractions built by the Mughal Emperor, Shah Jahan.
Bangalore and Delhi in two days!
On October 4, the ACS editorial team visited Jawaharlal Nehru Centre for Advanced Scientific Research (JNCASR) in Jakkur, Bangalore. We had an opportunity to meet with Prof. MRS Rao, President, Prof. CNR Rao, Director, and other researchers at the Institute. The team enjoyed the interactive Q&A session and lab visits with scientists. JNCASR has many focus areas, and is particularly strong in materials chemistry.
The following morning, we flew in to Delhi. In the afternoon, we visited Indian Institute of Technology – Delhi and met with researchers in the Departments of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering. We are indebted to Prof. A Ramanan, Head of the Department of Chemistry for inviting his colleagues to the interactive session in the afternoon.
In Delhi some of the editors got an opportunity to visit the Red Fort, while others saw the Qutub Minar – both popular historic monuments in the city and UNESCO world heritage sites.
